ABOUT HIM
My name is Kahlil Lashley, and I am a visual technician, a painter and an architectural designer. I utilize painting as a means to delve into diverse methods of representing the black body and face. I construct 3D models, render scenes, and employ image transfer techniques to depict the spaces we influence. Through layering the black body, face, and the spaces we impact, I craft storyboards that articulate the history, present, and future of blackness. The following is a compilation of moments that surface when reflecting on my life and artistic practice.
On Juneteenth 2022, my little black brothers serve guests fried chicken from my small cylindrical sculptures.

In May of 2023 a black girl cries in front my unfinished mural of my mom combing my sister’s hair. She says she feels exposed.
